We have a plan. And it is already working.
I understand these are fearful times and many people are undesirably stressed. The Texas State government has issued additional rules on Friday afternoon, July 17 – so this letter was delayed. Texas Public Schools like DISD, Plano ISD and Frisco ISD will probably not have in person classes when they open the school year and may not have in person classes until November.
After review, our school is still ahead of the rest of the state with our operations. Our current operating plans are in full compliance with Texas State requirements. Our official outline of dealing with COVID is attached to this email and will be posted.
The Attorney General of the State of Texas has issued an opinion that exempts Yorktown Education from the issues Texas Public Schools have to address. The news media and things happening with Texas Public Schools like DISD, Plano ISD and Frisco ISD – DO NOT APPLY TO YORKTOWN EDUCATION.
The school will be reset during the first two weeks of August and you will receive the final school calendar and schedules in August. The preliminary schedules and calendar are linked here.
Course plan meetings are required for every student and family during the second two weeks from August 17th to August 28th. At these meeting we will introduce teachers and answer all your questions. Each student’s personalized plan will be created or reviewed for the year, along with planning their path through graduation. This will also include future college and career planning so everyone can “Do What They Love”.
Two of this year’s graduates, who joined while younger, and followed our planning process – have received $134,000 and $166,000 in college scholarship money for their college admissions. So planning, and following the plan, pays off rather quickly financially – in addition to a better college and life outcomes.
SCHOOL IS OPEN WITH ON SITE IN PERSON CLASSES FOR THE FALL AND NEXT YEAR. WE ARE STARTING ON OUR REGULAR DAY AND TIME OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2020. Again, remote is also on option if you are COVID concerned. Some students who are traveling, in athletic events, plays and performances, and even overseas on mission trips, have been taking part or all of their classes remotely over the last 11 years.
Again – the remote options are available as needed and can start and stop anytime during the quarter.
We will continue to deliver a safe, and bright future for everyone in our Yorktown Community.
Sincerely,
Randall Reiners Chairman and Founder, Yorktown Education
