Yorktown takes first field trip of the year to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum
Students of Yorktown Education, along with faculty and parent chaperones attended the first field trip of the year to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison, Texas.
The Museum opened in October 1993 and began as the personal collection of businessman Jim Cavanaugh. The mission of the Museum is to promote aviation education, research and American aviation heritage. The Museum provides aircraft restoration, operates and maintains flying aircraft, maintains and displays historically-significant vintage aircraft. The Museum collection includes aircraft from World War I, World War II, Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
Our tour included:
- Observations of historic aircraft
- Interpretation of historical and/or scientific significance of select aircraft
- Life experiences from war veterans that had tours of combat in WWII and Desert Storm
Our first of many fun and educational field trips of the school year is in the books!
